I am so excited to say that, as of Monday, December 9th, I have officially finished my second semester of my accelerated nursing program...which means that I am finished with 1/3 of the program! I cannot believe how fast time is flying by, but I guess it is expected since I have been so busy. Aside from school, I completed a leadership program and competed in two pageants. I did not win in any of the pageants, but I thought it would be a good experience to have before the Miss CA USA 2014 pageant begins...and I cannot deny that I have made some friends along the way! One thing's for sure: next semester, I will not spread myself so thin again, especially with the tougher coursework coming my way.
Due to the recent changes in Etsy's policies, I have opened another shop called Noir Fairytale on Zibbet. I really like the fact that Zibbet does not charge a listing fee or collect commission from artisans. I also like their commitment to crafts made by the artist and not by third parties. For the time being, I am planning to keep my Etsy shop open, since Etsy is more well known and has more traffic than Zibbet (I think, at least). So far, most of my listings on Noir Fairytale has been imported from my Etsy shop U-Neek Style, but I am working on a new line of pieces that is inspired by Noir Fairytale. So, why the new shop name, you ask?
The meaning of Noir Fairytale (or what I interpret it to mean) is "dark fairytale." The word noir can mean many things...from dark to black to being suggestive of danger or violence. And, of course, the word fairytale means a narrative of the magical and the imaginary. For this shop, my new line of pieces will feature a contrast of bold, vibrant colors (instead of the usual pastels) with a dainty, Victorian design. In addition, the pieces will be stylish and unique instead of ordinary.
I have been having issues uploading new product photos to Zibbet (minus the ones I imported from Etsy), so if anyone can shed light on this issue, please do! It will be a while before I can start listing my new piece "The Contempt" as part of the Noir Fairytale line, since Zibbet is not cooperating with me, but here is a sneak peek of the kind of pieces you can expect from Noir Fairytale.
Well, nursing school has started, and it has been busy. For those of you who have not been keeping up with Miss California USA pageant happenings, K2 Productions is no longer affiliated with the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) as of March/April of this year due to some scandalous happenings (I won't say too much about it, since I don't have the facts... but you can always google it for yourself, like I did). I was totally freaking out when I found out, since I've been in the process of fundraising and advertising myself and my area of representation (U-Neek Style). A few weeks after finding out the information, a new company Top 10 Productions has been appointed by the MUO to take over the pageant. Since it's a newer company and has not been in charge of this particular pageant before, I don't really know what to expect. Most of my "research" on past pageants were those conducted by K2 Productions.
And, without further ado, here's my new area of representation, my lovely hometown, West Covina (Some information has been erased for privacy purposes)!
I'm truly excited to be representing my hometown. Of course, representing U-Neek Style was fun while it lasted too. As you can see from the e-mail, the pageant dates have been set to January 2-4, 2014 at Long Beach (more information on the actual location to come). Be sure to be there to support me (or you can always support me in spirit by tuning in to the pageant when it airs)!
Nursing school is starting soon, so I've been busy packing and getting ready for school to start. I haven't been crafting for a while, but I thought it would be nice to create one last special piece from home before moving to my apartment.
So...I present to you...the cake box! It's a super cute, calorie/fat-free box that's perfect for holding your jewelry! Click on the picture below to see more pictures and a more detailed description of the cake box:
Help me! I'm moving to a new town to go to school, and I'd like to sell off as many of my pieces as possible to make moving easier. While I'm at it, it would also be nice to earn some extra money to pay for school too! :] For my moving sale, take 20% off your purchase of $40 or more! Help a fellow crafter earn some money for school before it begins! :]
Sorry for doing such a bad job at updating my blog! There have been quite a few changes in my plans, and I've been busy trying to work around them. First off, I ended up getting my acceptance letter to a California nursing school after I moved to New York for school, so I moved back to California. The school is a public school (saves money), and it'll be closer to home although I'll still have to live in an apartment. Along with that BIG change in plans came...1) getting my student loans cancelled, 2) getting a refund from the New York school, 3) returning all my textbooks, 4) getting my "intent to enroll" and other paperwork settled for the new school, and etc. You get the picture. It has been a lot of work, but it has been worth it so far!
Also, for those of you who are wondering why I haven't been aggressively posting new pieces to my shop like before... I recently decided to tryout for the Miss California USA® 2014 Pageant, and I was chosen to be compete in the pageant! If I win the pageant, I will be officially crowned as Miss California USA for 2014, and I will be eligible to compete in the national Miss USA® Pageant! I'm pretty excited to be competing in the pageant for the Miss California USA 2014 title, since I didn't even think that I would make it past the interview stage! Please help me raise money for my competition fees and my charity choice (American Heart Association) by clicking the fundraising link below! If you or someone you know would be interested in sponsoring me non-monetarily, I am also in need of clothes, jewelry, make up services, and hair services for pageant week in December 2013. It would be greatly appreciated by me and will help advertise your business.

I just have to say how thankful I am that my little shop is doing well (well, relatively!) and how thankful I am to have earned enough money to cover by textbooks. Since my last update on my shop sales, I am now up to a total of 17 sales through Etsy and through people I know! Thanks, everyone, for the support!
I just had my car shipped out today. It will be shipped over to New York. Yes, all this "car shipping" stuff sounds expensive, but it's not too bad compared to the tuition. Plus, I'll need the car to go from place to place and from my living area to school. I have also started packing for my final (for a while) trip to New York. I've found it difficult to pack so far, since I have to condense what I bring down to what will fit in a few luggages...and there's the whole weight restrictions I have to worry about. Since my time left in California is winding down, so will my time for crafts. If I've annoyed anyone with my many, many posts and updates about new pieces in my shop...don't worry! I won't be crafting for a while...well...until I get all settled in to my new "home" in New York! (Even then, I won't be crafting and letting my creativity flow at such a fast pace, since school will be starting soon and I am in an accelerated program of study.) Also, because of the move and time restraints I now have, I will be stopping production of any pieces for my Jewelry Collection and my Card Collection. I hope you all have enjoyed the pieces I have made for those collections so far!
Without further ado, I present some of my last (for now) new pieces made in sunny California:
I hope you all will keep supporting me and sharing any finds you like from my shop!
